Maintaining Power with Battery Disconnected

Maintaining Power with Battery Disconnected
I would like to see if there is a way to maintain miminal power to the vehicle with the battery disconnected. I know there are devices like a Vehicle Memory Saver where you plug a 9V battery to the unit and then it's plugged into the cigarette lighter. (not sure how long a 9V battery will last).
I thought a Vehicle Memory Saver was great for under $10 bucks. However, it won't work for the G as the problem is that the circuit to the cigarette lighter doesn't stay live (hot) after the ignition key has been turned to the off position.
I really don't enjoy having to reprogram all the radio stations, homelink garage codes, etc. every time the battery is disconnected.
Anyone with any ideas?

How often are you disconnecting your battery?
Everytime the dealership works on my car, they go to the trouble of resetting the radio stations. I don't use the Homelink (no garage), so I'm not sure there.

The dealer doesn't reset your radio stations..... if they disconnect your battery, then they make sure to supply the vehicle with a device similar to the one described above. It's all part of the customer satisfaction index-- Who would want to have to reset everything if the dealer did disconnect the battery?
And yes, the Homelink system retains its settings even with the battery totally disconnected, even for long periods of time.

My dealership actually re-programs the radio stations. I've seen my number tag come back with all the stations written on it, and I've gotten a new tech that forgot to do it once and left me without radio presets. And then there was the time they did the FM1 stations, and forgot FM2 and AM.

Really? Then your dealership is behind the times, big time!
Why waste precious time (and $$$$ for the tech) reprogramming radio stations when it's much simpler/easier/quicker to just use a small power reserve for memory?
Not to mention that there are other "memory" devices on most other cars (seats, mirrors, radio presets, navi settings etc).....
I didn't think any Infiniti dealerships were still in the dark ages.

Re: Maintaining Power with Battery Disconnected
Thanks for the feedback. My main concern was for the Homelink System. I didn't know the memory would be maintained even if the battery was disconnected (despite long periods of time). Does the Homelink System have its own battery back-up somewhere?
As for service at the dealers, how would the dealer know what stations I prefer the radio to be programmed with after it has been wiped out by a battery disconnect?

duhprez,
Home link memory is maintained even after 14hours of battery disconnect. It appears to be the only thing that is maintained. Air con and entertainment systems are default back.

Re: Maintaining Power with Battery Disconnected
On the radio, as I said, once I got the car back with the radio numbers written down on that numbered hang tag they stick on the rear view mirror.
As for "why don't they use the power device"... well, when they're working on something like the radio or the seat itself, I imagine they don't want reserve power flowing through the circuits.
