Guys,

So to make a long story short, does anybody know any mobile service company in the bay area (peninsula area) that does touchup small chips on the bumper? I found two so far (dings plus and paint doctor) but not sure how their quality is on this type of work. Paint doctor is also about twice the amount as dings plus. I trying to keep the repairs within a reasonable budget since I have to also fix a scratch rim.

sorry, can't help you with any places but I wanted to share that I have a ton of little paint chips on my bumper and on other parts of my car too (due to a lot of freeway, big rigs, and high speeds). I was thinking about getting some touch-up paint from the dealer to "fix" some of the more obvious ones but I'm kinda scared that it will stick out. Anybody ever have experience with the touch-up paint?

I tired to touchup my chip with some touchup paint from Infiniti. The match was ok but it didn't cover up my chip well (maybe because of the size of the chip) and it was noticeable if you looked at it. If you have really small fine chips, and nicks, I think touchup paint should work ok. The brush that is included is to large to do detail work. You might be better off using a thin brush from a art or hobby shop for really small chips and nicks.

I will probably go with one of these guys to get the chip repaired. I'll let you guys know how it turn out. I'm hoping for a near perfect match.

 

i've read people suggest using a toothpick.

gdo, yes i have and it's pretty good. he's got a nack for darker colored cars too.

 

Just a update. After trying to fill up the chip with touchup paint, and still looking like crap, I decided to have paintdoctor (found on craigslist) fix the problem. Kirk finished the job this morning at my workplace (took about 1 hour) and he did a amazing job!! The paint shines and matches perfectly with the rest of the bumper. I am very meticulous about how paint matches and clearcoat shines and I can say that I am completely satisfy with the results. His price was very reasonable as well. He uses the Standox paint system which he said color matching is not a problem. Without a doubt, I would recommend him if you guys have any scratches, scuffs that you want repair without going to a body shop.

After I saw your post, I contact to Kirk for a quote. The price seems pretty high (but might be still reasonable). Could you compare the pics I had here to your scratches, see if the cost around $200 is reasonable?

Your scratches are bigger than mines. Mines was basically more like a chip on the rear bumper right by the license plate area. $200 sounds reasonable but not sure if somebody can do it cheaper. I will try to post a picture of my before and after. I think I still have the before picture on my cell phone. He did a great job on mines. I am happy with the results.
