Yesterday, I test drove an Evo (am down to this or the G35 6MT Coupe for purchase). I know it's a different class of car, but that's what it's come down to for me. I was amazed at its acceleration from a standstill as well as acceleration on the highway from about 65 mph. Now, I know the Evo will hand the G35's butt on a platter in a race from a standstill. This comes at a cost though (if you read the Evo forums) because the Evo clutch gets toasted in a remarkably short amount time, even with good drivers. But I'm wondering if the G35 could keep up on the highway. I mean, when I downshifted on the Evo, I felt like Superman - I felt like I could pass anyone (Porsches, Mustangs, bring 'em all on). Could I get the same feeling with the G? Unfortunately, I got to test drive a 6MT only once, and didn't get a chance to try the downshifted acceleration test on the highway. Any thoughts? Any measured times you could point me to (say from like 50 to 90 mph)? BTW, the G35 catches up to the Evo from a standstill at about 140 mph (on
www.car-videos.com), but I'm talking more practical speeds.
Thanks
