I thought about waiting a year or 2 to get a used g37, but as with you, I think I'd be happier with the G35 now. The exterior is much more suited to my taste, as opposed to the more feminine looking G37. Plus you probably would want atleast the G37 Journey, not the base. That adds another $800 or so to the price.
If I shop around, I could probably find a 2005 G35 with less than 50k miles for around $23k. Now $23k compared to a new g37 at $38k...Seems like a no brainer to me. I can take that extra $15k and save, invest, purchase mods and that 46" plasma i've been wanting. Then a few years from now, when I'm all G35'ed out, and just raking it in, I can upgrade to the G37, a 335i or a A5. For now, while our country's economy seems to be on a steady decline, I think its best to find a way, to ball... on a budget.

Yeah, we're in similar situations. By base I meant G37 Sport without any packages (premium, tech, etc.)
If you want an Auto then definitely pick up a G35.
Good luck
