McCain, Enron, and Energy Speculation
Found this pretty interesting. Discuss.
Quick Summary:
Enron lobbied the gov't for deregulation of commodities trading; essentially creating the Enron Loophole and the massive rise in the price of gas we see today due to speculators. In 2002, McCain and other Republicans acknowledged and argued for closing the loophole. The Farm Bill that was recently passed by Congress, despite a Bush veto, removes the Enron loophole. McCain fought against it and instead is pushing for alternative energy markets.
