Thumbs up Here's my official Mac HDTV thread (Its all that)

Wish I would have discovered this stuff much sooner!

Ok...cliffs...

-Picked up an Elgato Hyrbid HDTV Tuner with QAM support this week.

-Setup HDTV on our line

- Now, after some tweaks I can finally say this is really awesome and I'm enjoying HDTV on my Mac Mini with no problems

Observe

Can you guess what commercial this is?

Bottom line, if you're like me and wanted an
HDTV tuner that's one of the best out there, you can't go wrong with the the Elgato Hybrid unit.

Setup time will depend on your current cable service connections

They do make 2 different versions though. There's the 2008 version I have which features QAM tuning capability (ability to view unecrypted HDTV signals over your cable cable service coaxl cord (assuming you don't have a cable box hooked directly into your Elgato unit...) and also with a standard HDTV antenna again connected via Coax cord...

and there's the 2007 version which comes with the same exact features as the new one I have (including the award winning award winning Eye TV3 program which retails at 80.00.

Long story short, the bottom line is, if you own a Mac, at least one of these should be on your desk if you remotely are interested in watching crystal clear HDTV on your computer. It really does look awesome

The deciding factor between these units is if you need QAM or not. You need QAM if you have a cable wire running in your apartment/home with no DVR/cable box since you'll likely just plug up the coax cable and let the software find your stations for you.

IF you have a DVR/HD cable/satellite service already and wouldn't mind using that box to control your HDTV signal then you can forgo getting the latest version of this tuner and grab the 07 one.

The best part is that the 07 ones are selling on Ebay for under 90 bucks while some refurbs are selling now under 70.00, have 6 month warranties and are guaranteed to come with the latest Eye TV3 software already

Any questions, please feel free to ask
That is all
