If you're planning on modding BEYOND bolt-ons, then the G will do better in the long run.
@ Ballistcus: The new car FEELS no faster, because the torque is the same. You feel torque. Horsepower accelerates you. Do a simple matchup, and the G37 sedan will blow away ANY 1st gen G35 that is not FI or a built NA engine. Ask the sales guy to line up with you in a safe area, and tell him to go when you punch it. He WILL pass you, even with the disadvantage.
The 7AT is searching, because it is adaptive to the driver. It's been test driven by multiple drivers, and is trying to adapt to all of them. You're driving with the previous driver's adaptations. Once you put some miles on a G, it will read your mind.
The G is still the #1 car for holding value in its segment, which includes the 3 series. www.alg.com

It just didnt have the wow factor I thought it would have and the entire package wasn't even close to making me want to give up my current car and "upgrade". I guess its a good thing that I still enjoy my almost 7 year old G.
