2010 MB E350 BlueTec Sedan

Hello All,

I own a 2008 G35-S, but have always been interested in the MB BlueTEC technology. The 9th Generation E-class has finally reached the U.S. shores and it IS beautiful. I am most interested in the diesel version for its ultra clean emissions, fuel economy (nearly 700 miles to tank full), and 210 HP with 400lbs ft. torque doesn't hurt either, plus a host of safety/cutting-edge technology included. I have many reservations though, b/c MB has struggled to build reliable vehicles through the years (despite them being the champions of many firsts...i.e., Anti-lock brake systems)...Diesel vehicles are known for their longevity, but I cannot find very many articles supporting this. I am fully aware of the historical problems with diesel engines, but times have changed, hence 'BlueTEC'. Let me not forget to mention that the price for the BlueTec will probably begin at $50K+...is this price even worth the investment? I am wondering if anyone else has any interest in diesel vehicles, and if so please share any thoughts/opinions. I believe this (diesel) alternative is possibly the best option in light of the global concerns about petrol dependency.
