Cobb AP, Up-Rev, Technosquare FI tuning...

I've searched around and while there are a ton of FI builds, i haven't really seen anyone using reflashing for tuning.

After a reletively succesful Supercharged Subaru project, i'd like to use my charger for my recent G35 sedan.

My question is: Has anyone succesfully used the reflash tuners like Cobb, Up-rev and TS to tune an FI build? If you do, does the maf voltage have to be clamped and will they support larger injectors or higher fuel pressure?

I used an EMU on my suabaru and didnt have too much fun with it. I found it a little bit of an overkill for a low boost system (5-6psi max). I've sold it since then or i'd use it again becasue i had it.

Again, my plan is to build a low, 5psi system drivable in all conditions as I live in Calgary with weather all over the place. I know haltech or any given standalone is going to be an option, but havent ha much luck with cold starting and altitude changes. Also, I just don't think its needed for my low impact plans.

Any help appreciated.

I'm 99% sure Viet's (rookie) FX is controlled by a technosquare reflash:

I know there are people that have used the Osiris reflash. Osiris claims stable up to ~650 or 700 from what I've read.

Schnikies! That FX is something else...

Tollbooth, are you talking 650-700 cc injectors? Any idea if the Maf nees to be clamped?

Thanks for the replies.

I've seen many supercharged G's/Z's use the Osiris. All of them are running smooth with great power from what I've read.

The only argument against most reflashes is the inability to detect knock using the stock ECU.

Thats what I want to hear. Really, the stock EUC won't pull timing if it detects knock? Seems pretty ghetto for a modern motor. I think I could make due with a knock light or even a knock link just incase.

Thanks again. I'll search some more for a build thread.

If I recall, the ECU won't detect much knock past 5k RPM. (Someone correct me if im wrong).

Knocking that you can't feel/hear on a naturally aspirated VQ isn't much for concern (unless its doing it all the time).

In the other hand, minor knock can be devastating on SC/TT VQ35.

I wouldn't be worried about it too much if I were taking it to a very reputable VQ shop who has tons of experience with the Osiris and forced induction. And, if I were in your situation, I would probably add a meth kit along for further safety.

You are correct about the lack of knock detection above 5k rpm

I have talked to several tuners that like the UTEC for the G/Z. They like the control and functionality of the unit.

TS won't do you much good unless you live near them so they can dyno tune. For a reflash, the Osiris is what you want but again you should live near an authorized tuner for them to custom map your needs.

There is a big discussion regarding using the oem KS vs the aftermarket. Uprev says the oem unit is a very good unit that rivals or surpasses any aftermarket setup. ie.. JS safeguard etc.. Something along the lines of the aftermarket units are only reactionary in nature while the OEM goes to the next step.

IMHO Cobb doesn't have much experience with FI on the Nissans. They are great for the Subarus because they have alot of R&D with them.

Thanks for the info. From what i've researched, the stock knock detection system should be more then sufficient for 5-6psi. Looking into UP-rev for my tuning more, but still haven't found anyine using it on their boosted VQ though.

Thanks again for the help.

I thought i saw this when i first looked at Up-Rev, but couldn't find it again and thought i imagined it.

*From UP-REV FAQ Page*
Can Osiris be used to rescale fuel injectors and MAF sensors?
Osiris Loader does not support non-stock injectors or MAF sensors. If you need this capability please contact us.
*Edit*No longer an issue... Up-rev does support larger injectors or Mafs.

Spoke to Rich @ Up-Rev it seems that the larger injector issues are no longer an issue. They even have modified Mafs for systems producing too much volume of air for the stock mafs.

I think the Up-Rev is deffenitely the way to go. Thanks again for the help.
