Car having a hard time turning over when starting.

Some times (About 50%+) when I attempt to start my car it seems to have a pretty hard time turning over. I am wondering what the cause of this may be?

Another note, it has never not started, I have always go it to start, sometimes it just goes through the motions for a second or two.

Anythoughts? I thought it may be because I could be running lean it that is possible? other than that what do you all think?

Have you replaced the battery yet? Might want to get it tested to see if it's holding a full charge. Sounds like what my 05 started doing after about 3 years. Just needed a new battery.

I have. I think I have actually replaced the battery twice (maybe once), and the negative battery cord once.

do mean its hard to start as in the starter has a hard time initially getting the starter to turn over or that it just takes longer to get the car started

After I replaced my battery, my starter motor spun faster, but still didn't kick over. Turns out that my cam position sensor was starting to go out. I replaced it and the car started smoothly again.

Keep in mind that there's probably about 50 reasons as to why you're having this issue; this was just my experience lately.

Sounds like battery to me. Also make sure your terminals are clean.

How many miles on your car?

Battery is likely the culprit, also could have some bad spark plugs if they haven't been changed yet.

Need some clarification on what happens....

does the starter barely turn the engine over??

Or does the starter engage like normal, but the engine doesn't "fire" up right away?

1st is battery, but 2nd could be other issues

thanks for the responses, let me help clarify.

- The spark plugs are new
-Car has about 106,000miles
- It sounds like the starter engages normally, but the engine doesnt "Fire" up right away (Mustang5L5)
-it goes through its pre-start reving or whatever then turns on after about 3-4 seconds of this (Which is pretty long I would think).

May i ask what makes you think you are running lean? You said so in your first post. Fuel could be a cause of delayed starting.

COuld also be spark due to incorrect plugs, in correct gap, worn plugs, etc. Did it start after changing your plugs?

Have you run the codes just for ****s and giggles to see if anything popped up?

There could be many causes of this.

Could be a old crank angle sensor?

do you turn on ignition and wait a few seconds before the fuel pump stops pumping?? or do you just start it right away,

cause i always put in a key, turn on ignition to acc, wait until the fuel pump stops pumping and then i start it, and never had any problems with any of my G's in the past, I Had 4 G's so far and all of them started normal,

only one of my G's had a bad TB it used to choke on the road, but i changed it and never had any problems,

If you cel is on, you need to see what code is causing that.
