Steering Rack Leaking

I have had my 2007 G35S sedan for almost 2 years now, has been a great car this is the first issue I have noticed with it. It isn't leaking badly enough to leave any fluid on the driveway yet and I have not needed to add any fluid yet, but I'm sure it will eventually. It looks like it is leaking from the large nut does anyone know what the nut does? I was going to try to tighten it but I didn't want to mess with it unless I know what it is for.

Is it still under warranty?

Mine wasn't leaking but I could hear a creaking/popping sound with turning, even at a standstill. I had the dealer check it out and they replaced the steering rack under warranty.

Yes luckily it is still under full warranty until Oct 20, 2010, only 56,000 kms on the odometer. The steering has seemed fine, all that I have noticed is sometimes it seems a little stiff when I first start it up and turn the wheels before I start moving. Not sure that could just be because its cold, plus like I said it is just a little bit harder to turn the wheel. Looks like I will be going to the dealer too.

Joey let me know what happens with your at the dealer. Are you losing any fluid or is it just barely leaking like mine?

Replaced the whole steering rack? How bad was your leaking, was it leaving spots on the ground?

Great!

What symptoms was your showing? Was it making any noise? hard to turn? leaking onto the ground?

Here's some pics, I believe the nut is used for adjusting the steering rack if it is loose. I got an appointment booked for this Wednesday Oct 13 at the dealer. I'll let you know what happened.

Service appointment delayed a week since the dealer didn't have a loaner car available for me to drive.

Newbie question---how do I post a new thread? Please someone tell me.

Thanks,
Joey
