VDC off, Slip on

What does it mean when the "VDC off" light is on and the "Slip" light is on?

Could be a number of things, but the first that comes to mind is that your brake pads are getting low. Check your brake fluid and top it off. Your pads will need replacement soon.

It means you have the "Vehicle Dynamic control" turned off and you're spinning your tires.

Your both right.

Assuming nothing is wrong with your car darnelled's post is the obvious and correct answer. However say if your fluid is low, I read those lights will come on during normal braking to warn you.

When the slip light turns on, is there a throttle cutoff initiated to minimize the slippage? Even with VDC off, the slip light will still come on and in my old car, an 02 Altima, there would be a response from the throttle in it being cut to minimize the slipping condition. How can we get the car to ignore the slipping/spinning tires? Hope you don't consider this a thread jack as it's along the same line of questioning.....

not sure... usually when that happens, or in the times i've seen, was when someone turned vdc off and did a doughnut, the slip light would come on and stay on until you restarted the car...

as before, check the brake fluid and pad wear. if your abs light comes on with the other two, it could mean that you have a wheel sensor out or your tires have too drastic of a difference in size.

my car is doing the same thing, but my ebrake light is also on when driving...

my fluids are fine, so I think it's my brake pads.

I had the same issue a couple months ago, they came on a little bit after driving off with the car and wouldn't turn off until I restarted it.

My fluid level was within range but I topped it up to the max line. Also unplugged and replugged the wires nearby the cylinder thinking they're sensors for the brake system (probably fluid level monitor). Haven't had the lights come on since.
