Talking DIY: 4th gen Nano stealth mount in useless dash ashtray

So I've been wondering for months what to do with the console ash tray and yesterday it occured to me it would make a mighty fine place to mount the new 4th gen nano horizontilly since that's how it plays vids anyway.

Check it out. Literally took me less than 2 hours and cost nothing.

that's pretty sweet, nice work

but the dash ashtray is not useless.... i keep it filled with coins. i live in a part of town where, well, lets just say you would not expect to find an infiniti.... so everytime i get gas, i get asked for money, and if i dont give them something, i feel like my car is the target of violence, so i keep that ashtray filled with coins to give out as an extra insurance policy haha

Are you using USA-SPEC PA11-NIS? If so, does it charge the 4th gen ipod nano? I have PA11-NIS as well, thinking about upgrading to the 4th gen nano but I heard it doesn't charge.

I am and it doesn't charge.

It's pretty buggy too. For example if you are playing a video playlist and hit the seek button on the steering to go to the next song, it goes to the next song, plays about 3 seconds and stops. If you use the click wheel to jump to the next song it works fine. Seems to crash alot too.

I would have definately stuck with my 3rd gen if I would have known. Not too happy with Apple on this one

^ i'm still using 1st gen nano, even it's buggy at times. I gotta say it's USA-SPEC on that one.
