Having them built into the mirrors makes them look so slick. I have known at least 4 people that have had their car broken into which I am suspecting has partially to do with them not hiding V1's when they left the car.

the etching that was done is very precisely done....but the glass is etched out really and the CONCEALED DISPLAY of the V1 is disassembled and placed into the mirror.

here is a quick how to:

you cant unless its custom made. They are not bulk made. You would have to find someone that is willing to take the time to do it. My guy that did mine was doing them for the G35driver.com and my350z.com members back about a year and half ago..he is not doing them anymore now. Back in the day he was also doing full LED Interior Conversions for 400 dollars in any color you wanted...he stopped doing all of it.

Where do you mount the rest of the radar detector? I was thinking of doing this myself, or building it into the instrument cluster.

The main unit and speaker are under the dash. The GPS antenna is on top of the dash by the windshield. The controller is on the side of my console and the radar eyes are in the front bumper.

Mike - sorry to resurrect such an old thread but I wondered if you happen to know the dimensions of the Escort display unit once it was disassembled? Did you have any problems fitting it in under the compass board in the mirror? I have been asked to etch a mirror like this for someone but do not have the Escort display unit here yet so I was curious as to how tight of a fit it would be. I'd rather not buy a full escort rig just to try this out.

Chris.
