Also, I'm using a Pyle electronic crossover which also acts a line converter. It's adjustable and seems to work well with the Eclipse components.

For those who are skeptical, there is no reason to be. With quality components (Sub, Box & amp) you will not be disappointed. If you are simply looking to add some clean thump & bump to your system, I highly reccomend this.

Thumbs up Nice Set up!

The 4080 box is meant to slide in the corner of your trunk. It takes up a minimal amount of space and sounds great. I have seen custom boxes that go down under the trunk mat, but they are custom and are probably pretty $$$$$. The amp is mounted right on the back of the seat w/ some wood screws. I think one 500/1 amp is ok, but anything heavier might need some support.

Thanks for the heads up on the links... I'll have to search for them again and update accordingly. Let me know if you have any more questions.

Nice Set Up!

Very well done and clean install with out comprimising the OEM, How much did it cost you to do all that? I wish Tulsa, OK is closer to Washington. I would love to have that done to mine!

cdxsuprace, I'm trying to send you a PM, but the message system is screwy. You had asked me about the requirement for a separate battery or capacitor. It seems that my current setup has an adequate power supply and I don't have any issues. Every audio store I went to tried to sell me a capacitor but my setup has been working fine for about a year, and that 's with me abusing it on a daily basis. Thanks for the compliments and good luck on the installs!

I would also like to know this. Do golf clubs still fit with the 4080 box? I used this great tutorial today to install an amp and sub and it worked great! I just need a 4080 box now! Or possibly make my own fiberglass box. I have never done anything in fiberglass but it might be worth a try.

Golf clubs would fit with the 4080 box with the rear seat down for sure. One set might still fit with the rear seat up.

If you haven't worked with fiberglass, it's probably a better idea to just buy the 4080 box.

Lol If everyone had that attitude know one would ever try anything new. Plus I dont have much money to spend on a sub box.
But your probably right.

DR6, I used your DIY today and it worked out great! It took me longer than I initially thought it would, about 1.5 days, but I enjoyed learning about my car and there is definite satisfaction knowing I did it myself! After experiencing the install, I think it would take me at least half as long if I had to do it all over again! I ended up installing the following:

1. 4080 enclosure - $170 used
2. Infinity Perfect Sub - $75 (Buy one get one free from Crutchfield, I still have the other one if anyone is interested!)
3. Alpine MRP-M450 amp - $140

Some of you may think the amp is small but I wasn't interested in waking up the neighbors so it works for me! With the amp wiring kit and misc. connectors and wires, the whole thing cost me less than $450 total. Thanks again DR6!

Now the next step is to Dynomat the trunk.......

Dr6, Mucho gusto! I have this bookmarked on safari.
I was about to go and drop some change at Tweeters for this install, and voila! You have this awesome DIY, I ran the power line today but the rain didn't let me proceed... So on Saturday hopefully I will have the time to complete this install (for free). Great job.

Where is everyone putting their amps? Just screwed to the back of the rear seat?
