Glad this could be of help. It looked to be a no-brainer when i first heard of the Invisicord, but I some of the threads from people whose fuses shorted out or found their detectors powered even when the engine was killed got me asking questions.
And just FYI, using Mike's Mount will keep your detector WAY below any windshield visor line you have.

Question for hwa:
Does the 8500 move around much, if at all, using Mike's Mount?

Is the V1 installation affected by not using the fusebox they include for hardwiring? What is that part useful for, is it like a surge protector?

To answer the previous question, and to affirm patman530, the mount does jiggle a little on sharp bumps but if you tighten the screws enough, it should generally stay put. Mine tended to rattle a little, but I stuck a little bit of paper between Mike's Mount and the stock mount (for the Escort, the radar is still attached to the stock mount, which in turn fits into a slot on the bottom of Mike's Mount) and it solved the problem. You can probably figure out a better solution, but the paper isn't visible so I see no point going any further. I received a tip from someone about what to do if you find your detector bumping into the bottom of your mirror. Try sticking those small tabs that you place under chair legs to prevent them from scratching your floor on top of your detector and that should minimize the problem.

I have the same set up. Mikes Mount/Invisicord/Passport 8500 x50. I have to say that I really like it. Gets all the stupid cords out of the way and keeps the detector off the windshield.

I assume that the Invisicord also works the same way for the 2007 G35x ?
Also, has anyone tried Mike's mount with a 2007 G35? I've got a couple of questions for Mike's mount: 1. Does anyone know if Mike's mount will work on the 2007 G35? 2. How stable is the mount? Any concerns about it bumping up against the mirror or putting too much load on the rear view mirror? Thanks. |

Same type of mount, and the website tell you how to measure the post to be sure you pick the right one. Some years had more than one size. |
