NEW AVIC-Z3 DIY w/ PIX!!!!!!!!!!!

hey all. so this is my very first mod for my G coupe I got about a month ago. woo hoo! welcome to the addiction :P. anyways, I was lookin online and I couldnt find 1 single review on the pioneer avic z3. nobody has got it, and im pretty sure (could be wrong) im the first one on this site to slap one in their ride and post it on here. SO.... here are the pix of the install and process.

Background info and parts:

STOCK 2007 5AT base pkg (non navi) black/tan G35 coupe.

JDM double din brushed aluminum faceplate w/ HVAC controlls ($260.00)

Pioneer AVIC-z3 double din gps/dvd player ($1,499.00)

nissan antenna adapter diversity adapter to motorola m/f ($7.00)

Nissan wiring harness reciever ($14.00)

PAC SWI-PS steering wheel controlls ($62.00)

NDBT1 bluetooth adapter ($55.00)

IB100ll Ipod adapter ($55.00)

XM statelite radio reciever and hub ($43.00)

entire thing totals in at $1,995.00 and took about 9 hours to install. (I'm sure you could do it a lot faster, but im only 20 years old with hardly any technological knowledge, and I wanted to save 200 bucks by doing it myself, plus it was a lot of fun being that is was my first mod to my new G )

now onto the install....!!!!

sorry for the crappy pics, took em with my cell phone

...anyways, thanks for checkin it out, hope you guys approve of the install. I will be making a video and posting it soon on the features and interface/ GPS, etc of the AVIC z3. so ill keep ya'll posted on how it works out. take care.

ooh, one more note... bypassing the avic-z3 is a lot harder than the kenwood dnx8120. you need to ground the parking break and also swap out 2 unsused pins on the harness to something else which i will not go into detail about, which required a LOT of time!. I know we arnt supposed to talk about hack mods on the forums so I didnt include it in the DIY, but I got it up and running just fine. It's totally worth it to be able to drive and watch DVD's at the same time i mean uhhh, my passanger can watch DVDs :P anyways, lemmy know what u guys think, or if u got any questions.

pioneer makes a direct connect XM box that saves you from having 2 boxes to mount in your car. I know sirius is now going to the 2 box style. I know theres little room behind the stereo dash so 1 box is better than 2. I had the XM box mounted under the seat next to the Avic Brain.

nice installing...the only issue i had when i installed my Z2 was stuffing all the wires behind it in that tight space.

Looks nice. Not a bad job for "not a lot" of experience?

thanks for the comments guys. yeah, the hardest part was fititng all the wires behind the stereo and glove box. I also forgot to mention that i wrapped each of the soldered wires in electrical tape. (dont want them bumping into each other and shorting out ) I am going to add a TV tuner soon so I wil be redoing the soldering and hopefully shrink wrapping them for an even cleaner install.

I bought the HU on amazon cuz they were having a good deal. as far as instructions, i followed the stickys at the top of this forum to see how to remove the dash and car parts, then I just followed the instrucitons that came with the HU and steering wheel controls.
