AMP recommendation

Because my bose HU died I decided to install aftermarket system (pioneer AVH6000DVD with modules etc). From what I found here it looks like I need to replace AMP to have a good quality sound. Do you guys have any recommendation for not too expensive the amp which would give me a good quality sound with stock speakers for now and would be good for new speakers (probably Infinity kappas or JL) in near future as well? It should be 4ch amp right?

What year?

You may want to consider a 5 channel for a sub.

Also what is not too expensive?

I'm not gonna install sub for sure so I think that 4 ch should be good ( car is 2004).. not too expensive means probably under $300-200...

how do you like the avhp6000dvd? I'm trying to decide between that and the avhp4100dvd. I can get either for pretty much the same exact price, so that isn't really an issue.

there are many amps that are good.
i haven't been in the market for a while, but you got the Alpines, Eclipse, Rockford Fostgates, Kickers. JL audio are supposed to be good, but they get crazy hot. I sold mine after a month or two because they heat up quickly, just a hazard in my opinion.

Back in the day, there were some cheap ones that were good in quality, like Hifonics, and Profile i believe the California series.

i'm always a proponent of the "spend more on front speakers and forget the rears"...but that's just me....

cheap amps? well, the cheaper you go the cheaper your sound is going to be...go with mainstreet names, never can go wrong there. How many channels you do is factored by what you plan on amping...fronts and rears = 4 channel fronts only = 2 channel fronts, rears, and factory sub = 5 channel...

I am curious though...why no sub in the plans. one thing to think about is when you replace the factory speakers (as bad as they are, they are pretty good at getting low) and put aftermarket in, you are going to loose a lot of that low end extension...especially if you go with Infinity (don't know why they are such a forum boner here...)... so you might want to take that into account in your decision making process as a sub will add that low end back in...you don't have to thump, just have a low frequency presence.

The idea here is to clone the Bose concept in my 08.

OK so I don't want sub because I don't really care about bass anymore and don't want to have anything in my trunk I'm looking for something what would give me really clear sound.. Another thing is that I would like to install it on the place of current bose amp.. Is there anything good what would fit in there?

go with one of the small JL amps, they accept a direct input from the HU(balanced differential) and they have some pretty small footprints...also check out the Alpine PDX's...personally i would stay away from them as i don't like the sound and they are commonly found the culprit of a high noise floor in a system...

take a look at the stock bose amp and measure it, then go look at dimensions of amps of reputable companies....no profile, hifonics, flea market stuff...k? powerwise, 50-100 w per channel should be more than enough...you decide what and how many channels you amplify

Thank You for your help That's what I was looking for Would you recommend any specific model of JL amp or should I just look for any JL brand amp? Thanx again!

5 chanel amps are usually a bit pricey but the take place of 2 or 3 amps so the price is about right

only amp ive seen run a 5 channel decently was a JL, im sure there are others but thats a real world experience.

with your stock speakers, any amp will do just fine....I think it may be time for you to think about whether or not you are going to upgrade your speakers as well, and this will help dictate what amp to buy. If you are going to go with super high end speakers, then I would recommend a higher quality amp than the ones already mentioned....but if your goal is to go with low end infinity's, then any jl, alpine, rockford, etc would do just fine....just find one that fits in your space and has the power that your future speakers are going to need.

I was in the same situation as you were a couple of weeks ago. I was planning on changing my whole system as well. i was deciding whether to keep my stock subwoofer and add a 5 channel amp or just take it out and and add a 4 channel amp. so after weeks of thinking about it over and over and also doing some research here and there, i decided to go with this setup.

Fronts - Either Hertz MLK165 or HERTZ HSK165
Mids - Hertz ECX 6.5s
Rear - Hertz ECX 6x9
Subs - 2 12" Alpine Type R in a sealed box
Amps - ALPINE PDX 4.100 for the front mids and rears and for the subs PDX 1.1000

i plan on switching out the type R's in the future to a W7 just because i want 1 12" that does as much as 2 12's to save some room. Now for the cost of the pdx 4.100 was 360 from a local authorized dealer and cheapest i seen on ebay was 300 brand new and one from an online website which has 3 out of 5 stars had it for 355. so you can look into that.
I was thinking about going with infinity all around but since i heard the hertz, i fell in love. If i didnt get the PDX 4.100 than i would of went with the jl 500x4. Everyone has their preferences, but id pick the pdx because the quality of the amp is great and you save a lot of room. hope this helps you a little bit bro. good luck.

Hey Syndicate (or others that know),

How will you be running the 6 speakers from the 4 channels?

2 Channels from the front and splitting the the power on the back 4 (two 6.5 in back pillar and two 6x9 in rear deck)? Does splitting that power drop the ohms from 4 to 2?
