Remote Start with InteliKey

Is there a way to maintain the functionality of the button on the door or automatic unlock while installing a remote start. I do not want a separate alarm, just a remote start that doesn't affect the stock alarm/intelikey. From my understanding the "bypass" also disables the automatic unlock of the car, right?

Thanks,

Tommy

i am looking into the same thing. just want to add remote start to my factory alarm. i was looking into the Valet 561T but wasn't 100% sure that would work with our cars or not. somebody chime in please....also does it matter if you have an intellikey or not if this is possible to install?

Does she still have the ability to unlock the car with the button on the handle? My understanding was you had to bypass this so that the car would start without a key within range?

yup she has a bypass.. she has no problem unlocking or locking her door with her i key on the door or trunk, as long as the viper is unlocked or the viper will go off.

Interesting, I thought the bypass made the car stop reading to see if a key was within range so that it could start without one in the car. But I thought this came at the cost of the car not being able to see the key when you tried to unlock it by the handle or trunk... Anyone else had success like this?

All the bypass does on these cars is make it so that you can remote start the car. it emulates the chip in the key.
it won't affect your functionality with the car. but one thing that will happen is that when you remote start the car it will unlock the car, start it re lock the car. I can't remember if the car still unlocks when you come up to it if the car is running already.

O ok, I was under the impression that it disabled whatever searched for the chip. I was thinking if you emulated the transponder/chip that it would be unlocked all the time with it in the car unless you disabled the unlock on approach feature.

Now, does anyone know of a quality kit that just functions as a remote start? Are there any Infiniti remotes(from newer models) with remote start on them that can be programmed to work with our cars and remote start it?

he's right all the bypass does is for your car to turn on.. most of the cars these days need to have a bypass.. my girl has the top of the line viper don't know what model it is. when she auto starts the car the car doesn't unlock. she's happy with her viper

But does it maintain the feature of where it unlocks automatically when she approaches the car? Thought I would ask again, because it was unclear if you meant she used the buttons on the i key or not.

this may not help at all, but the G I just got has intelli key and can be auto started by pressing lock button 3 times or shut the engine down by pressing the lock button 3 more times. I like it so far.
