So basically its gonna cost 200-500 for the video input unit, then app. 200 for a DVD player cause the OEM isn't intended to read standard DVD's, and labor of around 200-300. So your looking at around 1000$

Your numbers are way off.

Module:$330
DVD Player: $120
Do it yourself: FREE
FM MOD/PAC AAI: $20-$80

So Total $470-$530, and if you do pay someone to do it, then add between $50-$100 for installation...more than 100 you are getting ripped off.

I didnt get too much feedback on the alternative navi conversion unit which I found from a suggestion on this forum. The unit could be MUCH cheaper than anything we have seen before.

It is a source from overseas, and if there is enough interest - I can place a bulk order for some pcs. I had only a couple of direct PMs in this regard - but if there is interest, please post here. The pricing could be great. The unit is similar to the PAC unit... I am a full-time importer by trade and experience and handling a few hundred pcs would be easy if I know I have interest.

Sorry to ask a redundant question, but this thread is really cluttered and I thought I read the whole thing, but still don't get it.

Anyhow, what is the "module" needed. I was just planning on buying a DVD player and a PAC AAI, I need something else too?

You need a converter of some sort to display your DVD's video on the stock Navi screen. The screen operates off of an RGB+sync signal, and 99.9% of DVD players do not have such an output. Incorporated in to most modules is a switch that will switch all the signals for you at one time, so you can toggle between Navi and DVD easily.

Um....

This entire thread is basically about the modules. As far as I know every module that will work is mentioned in this thread. Reread it from the beginning and look for specific names (like AV electronics).

Exactly, re-read from the beggining paying attention to the second post on the first page...basically what you will need to use your OEM navigation screen is:

1) "Module" which will be hooked up to wiring behind your navigation. This will allow you to plug in a DVD player or PS2 via the yellow RCA cable per se. This is only video...what about sound?

2) The PAC AAI-NIS or an FM modulator for sound

3) External player like a DVD player or PS2

What year is your car?

If 05, you can only get AV Electronics unit as mention on first page of this entire thread.

If 03 or 04, all models (PAC VCI-X or AV Electronics unit) give same quality thus far, but the stock Infiniti LCD is exceptional compared to other cars, so don't worry there. This will be your video input switct. Try going to the PAC website and looking at the wiring instructions to get an idea of how it works (simple).

For sound, best quality is the PAC AAI-NIS unit. It uses your SAT button (03 and 04) or your Radio (but SAT setting) for 05 and gives you CD quality sound. However, if you have an activated satellite radio, it won't work. So someone in the sound industry for the longest time, suggested to me the Myron & Davis ANT 108 wireless FM modulator for best sound compared to any other modulator. I just recieved it yesterday and will let you know how good it really is.

EDIT: this is the best FM mod, let alone wireless by far. I tried it at one end of my house using a computer in one room, and my Stereo in the other, and the quality was awsome (no static). But have yet to pop it in my car.

I have an 05 sedan premium. So i would need the AV electronics and the Myron & Davis ANT 108 wireless FM modulator plus an xbox/rear camera/ps2. Also do you think this is a good idea for DIY. the car is brand new and i would really like to take advantage of the motorized display. Also where to purchase.. Thanks alot

try

avelectronics or generatorlabs.com

The generatorlabs piece allows xbox hookup to navi screen, has all the features of xbox... the aveletronics allows multiple input devices to be added, and allows for rear view camera hookup, which is a definate plus.
