If you have an 03 or 04, they all give same quality. For 05, only AV Electronics unit works, still same quality...there is no such thing as a "better" quality.

I get how there is the RBG cable and they need to be cut, but what is the 4th cable (sync)?? If i were to conect rbg from DVD player, it only has the 3 cables, but on the navigator, there is the 4th cable that needs to be cut and I dont know what to connect to it.. does it make sense?

There are multiple forms of an RGB hookup. Just because you have an RGB DVD player doesn't mean that it will work with our stock Navi. The most important factor is the type of RGB it is. Our stock screen uses an RGB + Sync signal, your DVD Player most likely uses an RGB signal that includes the sync information with the G signal.

I believe there are adapters that will extract the sync signal from the G wire and give you a sync signal to hook up. Without a sync signal you will not be able to get video data on the screen.

In the 04 the sync wire is pink. You would have to do a search for a converter, I have no idea if they exist, but I think that they do. If they don't, they should!

There must be a way, since there is such a thing as a navbox that is taking component and splitting it to RGB and sync...

The component cables that I see (google search) for xbox are RBG and two RCA'
s for L/R sound. So 5 cable, 3 video and 2 sounds... Am I missing other cables?

If this works, it would make it super easy to hook your xbox up... I may have to go buy an Xbox and check it out!

another interesting finding is this site:
http://www.geocities.com/wonderer369/G35Nav.html

The guy set up a gex dvd player with RGB and somehow seperated the sync out, using the following method. Not sure if this would work on xbox:

"Using the one spool of Single shield audio wire from Radio shack, solder the pink wire that goes from the Display. Using the other spool, do the same to the pink sync wire that goes to the NAV. Route both wires to where the GEX Green and Red Connectors are. Connect the Nav Pink wire to the Red connector and the Display pink wire to the Green Connector.
Now you should have a total of 5 wires from the units infront to the GEX. You now have a total of 4 cables containing these wires. "
