hey g35driver,

yes i'm getting these lines on the screen, but only when the engine is on. when it is off and in ACC mode it works fine. when the engine is on i get some mild flickering in the background. sort of black horizontal lines. i'm not sure where he hooked the 12+ to. i'm assuming to the DVD player, because that was where he spliced all the other wires. should he be doing it differently? Please let me know ASAP so i can bring it back to them without them charging me anything extra. my email is alexn86@netscape.net . for some reason i dont have access to private messages on this forum

Cool "Can I mod my NAV to play DVDs???"

Hi Alex
Please make sure that the installer grounded the black wire and the shield wire of my DB9 cable, otherwise you may pickup engine noise. Ask them if they did and let me know. You should try and tap power from the lighter. If this is happening with the engine on it is the power source not the RGB unit. Also you may want to try and increase the brightness on the RGB unit because some screens need more drive than others. 718-763-7367
Thanks Dominic of www.TVandNav2Go.com

I'm sorry for putting you on the spot, its just been a long process of getting it done and working right. This product is great and is worth the $200 you're selling it for.

Wow this is information heaven. I just found this forum, and I found a lot of answers to my questions.

1. ) For those of you who have the dvd installation, though the navigation features do not work unless you're parked, does this restriction apply to watching dvds?

2.) Has anyone figured out some way to avoid this parking brake restriction? I heard that the navi system is connected by a wire to the parking brake, but if that wire is connected to the ground brake or something instead, it will work without having to be parked.

thank you

Oh ok. What system did you install in your car Gee>

1.) If I'm leasing the g35, is it possible to "uninstall" the modifications to the navigation system, like the module and the av electronic, when my term is up?

2.) What does it mean when iksardarG wrote in the first page that the AV Electronic unit can be ordered as G35 specific in order to simplify the installation.
Does that mean that the av will not work for another car that I might plan to get in the future? Because if so, since I'm on a lease, I shouldn't go with this one.

thank you for reading this.

1) Yes, it can be returned to normal, but if its an 05, 4 wires are cut. (Can be soldered back when turning it in and they would never know).

2) He means that it comes plug n play so no cutting. However this is only true for the 03 and 04 years. The 05 AV requires cutting. (The AV unit never changed, only the wiring harnesses in the G35s did and thats the reason why).

As for my setup:

2005 Coupe
-Stock Navi
-PAC AUDIO VCI-X
-Myron & Davis FM Modulator Ant 108
-Fuma DVD player

(But the PAC unit is still in testing)

If you have an 05, you can go with the AV unit or the NavAndTVtoGo unit. And if you dont have satellite radio enabled in your car, you can go with the PAC AAI-NIS as a sound alternative to the FM modulator. This will allows better sound and is purely plug n play (no cutting involved).

Hey Gee, Thanks for all your input.
I tried PMing you but my account isn't allowed to for some reason.

Sorry for asking you so many questions but you seem really knowledgeable and I dont really understand all this wiring jargon that goes on in this forum.

Let's say that the 2006 g35 is no different from the 2005 with respect to the wiring:
Considering that I will be leasing the g35, what is everything you recommend I buy in order to have a good system but requires minimal cutting? I prefer to be able to buy electronics that I will be able to use in any future cars because I will be leasing.

Thanks a lot

My previous post tells you exactly what you need! (It was also the most cost efficient out of all the packages I've seen others list it for.

1) Any unit but the AV will run about $300 (AV is like $500)
2) DVD Player or PS2 (I paid $110 for my FUMA or you can go with a PS2)
3) FM Mod or PAC AAI-NIS (I paid 30 for my wireless FM modulator)

Thats it...your done. I wouldn't jump the gun for an 06 until I see schematics. If all stayed the same, the you CAN ONLY buy the AV unit or NAVTVTOGOs unit...

I am the first guy to work with PAC to determine a fix for thier unit. Been working with them since April but got to busy with work to go in until later this month to try out a new circuit. I would say I was one of the first people with an 05 to take the plunge and cut the wires but only because I get something out of it too...and so does PAC. So if I were you, I would hold off on the "experimenting" until someone else tries since you are leasing...it could be a few months if Infiniti changed thier navigational wires yet again...if I were to see the schematics for the 06 navigation, I would be able to tell you what would work and what wouldnt.

And about the PMing thing. You need a minimum of 5 posts before being able to PM someone. So just post whore a bit and youll be ok. Welcome to the boards and I hope I am of help to as many were to me....its a good place here, you should stick around...
