GROM USB Bluetooth Aux install
#16
Vanessarino, after you confirm that the GROM is installed correctly and is getting power, try turning off the radio, unplugging the GROM, plug it back in, and power up the radio. Unplugging and plugging the GROM resets it. If this doesn't work then contact GROM tech support http://www.gromaudio.com/support.html as they respond quickly with good procedures. I've had a couple issues which they helped me resolve.

do you have the bluetooth attachment? it comes as an added accessory.
first i would checm that the unit is getting power. take a usb stick that has an led and plug it in. confirm that the light turns on or use an iphone usb cable and comfirm its charging your phone. if it is not then the unit is not powering up and you might have tapped the wrong wire for power

Which is the right wire to tap? I did it on the yellow wire which was part of the cables diagonally attached to the grom cables.

I am planning on buying one of these:
http://www.gromaudio.com/store/andro...interface.html
http://www.gromaudio.com/store/bt3_a...emulation.html
I just had some questions, Do you need the AAlinq app to play music from your android phone through USB or bluetooth? is there a big difference in audio quality between USB and Bluetooth? Do you need the app for steering wheel controls?
Lastly do the steering wheel controls work with USB flash drive plugged in?
Thanks

GROM works pretty well with the steering wheel controls.
the difference in quality of BT and wired is measurable.
BT is like 1000 times more convenient, but it feels like i am listening to 96kbps/128kbps MP3's... which isn't bad.
Wired setup feels like 192kbps+.. the bass and voices sound more clear

Drifter2090, the USB3 should be a good choice as it has all the options. When I first installed my USB2 there was a measurable audio quality reduction with BT which became even more apparent after I upgraded the the amps and speakers. I wouldn't worry about it if you prefer convenience over quality, as I still find I use the BT from time to time, but if you're an audiophile you'll notice it.
I find the BT is like low bitrate encoding, and there are key components of the sound missing or modified. The low frequencies are reduced, vocals and upper mid range are reduced in clarity, and there is an echo effect with certain frequencies. The USB flash drive can be equal or even better than CD with a high bitrate encoding. The aux input is as good as the phone, mp3 player or whatever source you've connected can reproduce, not quite as good as the USB but pretty good. AAlinq is good but there are definitely missing components in the sound so not sure if that's due to the app. I haven't heard the Android streaming on a USB3 unit or iPhone on my USB2.

Thanks for all the help man! Yeah I care a lot about audio quality I didn't even order the additional Bluetooth piece. Also update your USB2 firmware here:
http://www.gromaudio.com/software-usb2.html
"USB Audio streaming with control supported for USB2P" it will let you use steering wheel controls while USB streaming w/o the AALINQ app.
