Which Stereo dash kit do I need

2005 G35 coupe. I am going to be raplacing my head unit with a pioneer unit, because I don't listen to CD's only usb or SD which the factory head unit does not have. I need to order the dash kit or finish plate as some call it, but I am not sure which one to get as there are two different dash kits for the car that vary in color. Was wondering if anyone could tell me which one would be the best match

METRA 99-7605 - Silver
METRA 99-7605A - Brushed Aluminum

If someone could tell me which one would be the better match it would be great. My Dash is silver in color, but I am not sure if you would call it brushed aluminum or silver.

See the sticky for the color comparison. All the colors are shown (double din install guide).

All 05, 06 and 07 coupes are brushed aluminum (or rosewood) from the factory it's pretty easy to tell the two apart.

THe Metra 99-7605 is aluminum colored plastic, while the 99-7605A simulates brushed aluminum ("Brushed aluminum finish"), so it matches much better with the rest of the trim in the car, for a little higher price.

But, the best match is going to be the OEM/JDM trim kit made with real brushed aluminum and OEM buttons, but it's $300+.

I am sorry it took me a little while to get back on here and thank everyone for the reply. I really appreciate it.

I have another question. I actually found the JDM double din dash kit and I paid 400 bucks for it. Can anyone tell me what the difference is between the double din kits with nav and the double din kits with out nav.

About 1/8".

(Non-nav trim is taller)

It would be great if anyone could answer that question for me. Would the Dash kit with navigation work for a car with out navigation

Yes, but you'll have a 1/8" gap at the top between the trim and the center console lid.

oh ok the gap in the picture doesn't look to bad. Thanks for getting back to me. I really appreciate it. I was going to sell the one I bought and buy the one for cars with no navigation, but that doesn't look like a big deal at all so I will just keep it and use it.

I honestly have no clue as to why they didn't just make the lid come down 1/8" more and only produce one trim.

yeah that is kind of weird. They could have made the little lip on the navigation come down further. It would have been easier than production 2 finishers of different sizes. Its crazy because metra only makes one size finisher. So how does that work. Do people just have to deal with the gap

I mean I wouldn't notice it

If it really annoys you, you should look into some local level politics to bicker about.

I am not really sure why that comment was necessary, If you don't like the thread just move on. Its pretty idiotic to stop in a thread just to something stupid. Anyway apparently you don't have anything better in your life and get your rocks off by trying to insult someone. Ill will go ahead and entertain you and say ok. Yes I will look into some local politics to find something to bicker about. Idiot
