For those of you that have had their crappy factory speakers blowout and want a cheap replacement, this post if for you. I like my tunes as much as the next guy, but would rather invest $700 in my kids college fund than buy an expensive speaker system. I simply don't need a stereo that let's everyone in the neighborhood know what song I'm listening to. So here's a cheap, quick, and dirty install to replace those old door speakers, here we go.

I bought a pair of pioneer TS-675M speakers (6 1/2") from Walmart for $50. Yes, audiophiles, some of us don't need $250 speakers ( or amps, or sub woofers). They're 4 ohm impedance like the factory Panasonic brand speakers that came with my non-Bose G. I removed the door panel following the readily available instructions on the net.
I took out the old speakers, reused the adhesive foam tape around the hole, drilled 3/32" holes for my screws and stuck that speaker in place. That's right, I'm too cheap to buy a mounting kit. Hooked up the wires (red negative, green positive) and put her back together. The result - it sounds better than factory, it was $50 bucks, and it took about an hour after 3 cocktails. To audiophiles, this is heresy, but to me it's heresy to invest money in a depreciating asset just to make it sound better. No need to respond stereo geeks, it's just an opinion and a guide for those who don't like parting with their $.
