2006 Bose amp in 2003 G35 with Bose replacement

Hi so my amp is going bad in my 2003 sedan I need a replacement. I've been looking on eBay, and am wondering if I can get an amp for any other year or from a coupe? I'm asking upto 2006 because that's the last year before the remodel I think.

Also thoughts on buying used amp? And swapping is just simple DIY, right? Just swap cables and mount?

Thanks

Early 2003 are compatible only with early 2003 models. Late-2003 up to 2006 sedans are all interchangeable.

Buying used... well, it's at least a few years newer than the old one.

Bigger question, is how do you know it's the amp and not the headunit? The headunits in these cars are much more failure-prone.

Thanks for the reply!

Well I spoke to an audio shop, and before I even completely finished describing the problem, he was able to finish the rest and confirm to me that it was an issue with my amp. A new one is much too expensive so I'm looking at a used one.

So just to clarify, should I only get a 2003 amp or am I able to get upto 2006?

Thanks.

You can use a bose amp from any 2003-2007 coupe. (not a sedan!)

Sorry just a bit confused here and want to make sure I purchase the correct one

Sorry, I thought it was a coupe... sometimes I get a few too many threads to follow.

It depends on if the 2003 is an early 2003 or late 2003, since late 2003s had 2004 wiring. 2004-2006 sedan amps are compatible, early 2003 are not.

To check, look at the bose amp. If there is a single, gray, 26-pin harness, it's the early 2003. If it's two separate harnesses, one black 24-pin harness and one gray 8-pin harness, it's a 2004 version.

Sorry for the late reply! I really appreciate your help thus far.

So I tried to find the amp in the trunk but I had no luck. I got down to the spare tire and removed both the "walls" on the left and right side. I didn't see anything. I'm not very 'car-inclined' so could you please describe me on exactly how to easily access it. Like a how to for dummies (I couldn't find a guide online).

Again, I have a 2003 G35 Sedan with Bose. If it helps, my radio does NOT have a SAT button.

Thank You!

Sedans have their amp under the rear deck, not by the spare:

Okay thanks the pic helps!

So what's the procedure on reaching the amp? How do I get the "carpet" (whatver it is called I'm not sure lol) off of the top?

I can't just pull it off since there seems to be somethings holding it in place.

Sorry again I'm just not really inclined to this type of stuff.

I think I just have to take out those little round black things holding the top in place. What's the best thing to use to remove those without damaging those are anything else?

There's the two-part trim clips and the single part ones. The two-part you just slide a small screwdriver in to get the center piece to pop up, then lift the outer ring to get the whole thing out. The single-piece clips just put a screwdriver under it and lift.

Okay thanks. Yeah I had gotten the two front ones out earlier today using a knife. Where are the single-piece clips?

On mine, they were the center clips along the edge closest to the rear of the car.
