Looking for a new double din

My 6+ year old clarion crapped out on me.. Looking to replace it with a new one with the capabilities to link my android phone.. Been out of the car audio game for a while, whats good nowadays?? Im partial to Alpine and Kenwood as I remember them being high end back in the day.. I looked real quick and the Alpine ics-x7hd looks promising but its from 2013.. Wanna get the latest and greatest lol

Depends on the phone. If you have one that does android auto, go for a headunit that supports it, same for apple carplay. If your phone doesn't do either, just get one that does bluetooth streaming.

I'd take a look at the Pioneer AVH-4100NEX. It supports both Android Auto and Apple Carplay.

Im looking for something with good outputs to, sound quality is very important

I was looking at the 8100 series but very expensive, dont need navigation.. Didnt know about the whole nex series.. The 4100 looks good and better priced..

Sound quality on modern headunits is pretty much good all around. Once you introduce road noise, the difference is pretty much nil.

I got to play with an 8100NEX a few months back when I installed one for a member, very good headunit, but I wouldn't pay extra for the navigation when you get great navigation built into the phone that interfaces with it.

I'm looking at the 4100 series.. Better priced and don't need navigation.. My question now is how are the processor speeds?? I'm also looking at the kenwood ddx9702s now..

I've ordered the AVH-X5700BHS, I'll let you know what I think of it in a week or so.

So I installed this one in my wife's car Sunday, the only cons I can list are the beep when pressing a button that can't be disabled, and that despite having the very nice Pioneer NEX interface, it doesn't have the super-easy software bypass that the NEX units have, so I'll have to go back and run the parking brake wire to the parking brake. The beep isn't too annoying, but I really would like to disable it. I can't imagine any excuse for not having it as an option. You can't pair a new phone or do some of the more advanced setup options without that wire parking brake wire grounded.

The AppRadio One feature is nice, working completely through the standard USB cable in the phone, no adapters required. Apps need to get caught up though. I can't wait for Waze to work properly through it, since it's the only navigation system I really trust for live traffic updates.

Pandora is excellent with this headunit - you get your stations list, thumbs up/down, can build stations right on the radio, album art... very good, all over bluetooth when using Android. I wish the UI would shrink the "PANDORA" text and station name and give more room for the artist and album names.

Second this. I've been running it since April and it's a really nice unit. I didn't need nav, but it will run Apple Maps natively in carplay, and support audio from Waze when you need it. Really pleased with it so far.
