Good job to get it working on the stock nav. How much did it cost you?

lol kind of a hassle to do for a diy. not too difficult. just need something to output display like tvandnav2go or now there are a bunch of different options. naviks on ebay and others. you will have to get a touchscreen overlay and dremel the hell out of the oem housing to fit it. then to get the actual touchscreen to interact its the mimics x2 module from customgadz

tvandnav2go $230
mimics $200
naviks airplay mirroring module $150 (will prob switch to a hard wired to see if i can get better response and picture clarity)
and thats the basic build of it

Can't you get the same effect from apple carplay and a compatible headunit?

Just seems like a lot to spend for the low-resolution screen to me.

if i had the nav system, i could see myself doing this. Sucks that you have to hold the phone sideway in order to see it on the screen.

I agree. I run a full android radio that does everything my phone does for less than the total of the diy but maybe some want the factory look

I have a double din that runs android as the operating system. Meaning everything that your phone does my radio does. Email, Web, nav, Bluetooth, wifi. It's a Chinese company named pumpkin. Paid 290.00 for it and it's been worth every penny.

yeah u could run a carplay double din to get the same thing. im just a total stickler for the factory finish look. ive been contemplating on how hard it would be to swap out the screen and repin the factory nav to work with it. or maybe use the screen from a g37 and see if the pinout are similar. but yeah the resolution is a bummer for me

it was referring to wrathernauts comment how the newer headinits have carplay which conmect via bluetooth to your iphone and shares the internet off of it to run apps that are built in on the headunit like waze, google maps, phone... etc. the list goes on. they are slowly adding more apps to these carplay enabled headunits

I'm probably going to go with one of the android units as my next radio. I like my wife's Pioneer 5700BHS, but I don't like some of the limitations.

Really cool mod.

I have one of the NEX units that runs Carplay and I really like it, but Carplay isn't yet a complete mirror of what's on the iPhone. It only runs a handful of key apps, and doesn't mimc Waze, Google apps, etc. I think Android does a better job of that in DD HU's.
