Has anyone used this(or similar)set up for installing a Sirius sportster or similar free standing sat receiver. Is there anyway to take advantage of the pre-wire that exist in the trunk to tie my sportster into rather than taking the dash apart?????

Thumbs up Great install pics

Hey I just finished installing my AAI-NIS2. I couldn't have done it without the printout of your install! Thanks for the quality post.

(My ProClip is on the way...)

I have to hand it to you Brad...that was the BEST DIY guide I've ever seen. I followed the entire process with ease, and I have very little mechanical inclinations. Nice job.

Will this work with non-Bose non-sat system? I only have basic CD changer.
Thanks in advance.

Will this DIY work on a OEM Bose with Navi?

Someone asked this back on the first page of the string and, unless I missed it, I don't believe it was answered.

I assume the Navi itself won't interfere with the socket in the back of the head unit that the ipod interface is supposed to go (figure it either doesn't plug in to the head unit at all or plugs in elsewhere).

But will there be any difficulty in exposing the back of the head unit, using the steps illustrated, if I have the Navi?

My PA11-NIS is in the mail and I'm a bit concerned about my planned DIY....

Thanks in advance.

Well, I can answer my own question now. Yes!

Just installed my PA11-NIS in my '05 OEM with Nav.

Thanks for the detailed instructions.

No real problems. Hardest part for me was actually getting the head unit back in. I didn't find it easy to just shove the adaptor back there and stick the radio back in, as some had described the process. Finally just crammed the adaptor to the bottom of the space, below the lip of the opening for the head unit. Got it to go back in but the only way I could get the bottom brackets flush with the frame was via cranking on the screws. I was concerned I might cut or pinch a wire back there somewhere so I connected the battery and had everything running while I tightened. No problems, fortunately.

I ended up running the ipod connection cable up through the gap below the ash tray when it's open. I can get the ashtray to close but it's snug. Nice thing about where I've placed it is it's loose enough that I can either pull out extra cord or shove it back in up to the head of the connector to keep the cord out of the way.

i just did my gf's car this weekend. thanks for the great writeup. it was a lot easier than i thought. i drilled a small hole on top of the radio (that small compartment, she has no navi) and place the ipod there. i'll try to take a pix this weekend.

Hey guys...If I do this mod, would any videos that play on the MP3 player play on the Navi screen? If not, does anyone know what I would need to make this work? Thanks.
