Texas World Speedway (TWS)
I signed up for a "club motorsport" day at Texas World Speedway (TWS) near College Station, 1.5hr north-west of Houston ....
Check it out... ...by the way, some of these are large downloads... so suffer in yer jocks if you have slow connection.... Some video of the track... (13mb) Video of blue-group. Run 1 - with instructor... (12mb) Video of Second Run... (28mb) Video of Third Run...against another G35 sedan (12mb) Video of Fourth run... against another G35 sedan (hi Gary) (29mb) This was a "motorsport" track session - only passing permitted on straight sections. The G ran well - tires were a real limitation. Auto! tranny got too hot and had to back off after 6 or 7 laps. I was driving in manumatic mode - holding in 3rd gear most of the time. When it got hot, it would drop into 4th and not allow me to manually shift. But it would still kick back to 3rd, as an auto does... really want a manual.... but then there's Houston traffic ![]() Sucky moments; - confirming street tires are really crap and get real greasy when hot - when tranny overheats and sticks into 4th - doing 120mph down the straight and a BMW coupe blows past, and a miata !!! Sweetest moment(s); - passing 3 "boss" mustangs on the straight (didn't have camera mounted) - passing a BMW M3 race-car (but then his tires warmed up and he killed me) - catching up to a BMW 3-series (with dealer plates... hahahahah...) - watching a ford taurus with enterprise sticker do hot laps - passing SC thunderbird on straight - passing SHO taurus('s) on straight - outrunning gutted probe - keeping up with supercharged Camaro (except on the straight bits) - listening to a wicked Supra turbo blow by on the straight (running huge turbo at 22lbs boost) Last edited by andycon : 05-30-2007 at 01:34 PM. If GaryJ could hold a line you might have had a challenge. Great video and a great day all in all. I haven't seen any videos posted from the SHO club yet.

Hey Andy! Looks like you had a blast! A lot better doing 120 on the track rather than blowing past......well enough said

Not to bust on ya but the Ford with the Enterprise sticker was a Taurus. The T-bird was a 4.2 Stoker SC There was no SHO Probe there if there were it would of been running rings around every car there that weekend, the 2 Probes there were just stock, one was gutted though. We did have a 4 cylinder Fuson rental car there on the track, it was fun watching Sergio pushing the SS around the track till he spun out. It was good meeting you Andy. blue92 <----- the old fart in the fordbastards cap. |

I am prolly going to sign up for this one...
http://www.texasworldspeedway.com/sched/index.php TWS MOTORSPORTS CLUB June 30-July 1. Bring your daily driver or rent one of the TWS Miatas for two days of instruction and driving on our high speed road course. 979/690-2500 All participants treated to barbeque dinner w/all trimmings. If anyone is considering going - I highly recommend upgraded brake pads (Hawk HPS worked like a champ for me). I also have motul brake fluid. Brakes were fine - even after quite a few hot laps (see above). After the last time on the same track, I am adding a tranny cooler and coolant flush. You can do without, you just have to back off for a few laps and let it cool down. ![]() |

I went to TWS for the Dec 15-16 event. I got bumped up green Green to Blue class after the first day. Then 2 sessions into the 2nd day my rear brakes failed... :-( went home early and thank god the screecher broke off the damn brakes because that would have been a long 3.5 hour drive back home.
So... Any suggestions on pads for a 07coupe?
