New to autocross

I made an account on g35driver a while back, but i hardly ever drive it, my brother drives it most of the time. But now, I've been driving the 06 G35 6mt everyday for about 1 month now. I am still getting used to it. I have never autocross or go to the track before. I dont think i can even launch correctly. However, this weekend, there is an autocross event in SF; my friend is taking me to it. I believe it is a solo run. i would like to give it a try. Any tips to help me out? I plan to practice my launch a few times before the autocross event. dont flame, please

Launching is not one of the more critical skills to learn, so don't worry about it. Most clubs provide some sort of help for novices-be it a novice walk through of the course or instructor ride alongs as you run. Email the club or ask about it when you register. Also, ask about loaner helmets if you don't already have one. Most importantly, even if you finish dead last--have fun.

ooo man, i finally attended the autocross today. I was the only G there. The first 3 run, i was totally off. I had no clue where i was driving and went the wrong way. What an embarassment! However, I stood aside and study the course to know exactly what to instead of guessing where to go when I get there. So run 4-8 was much better. Even though i went the right way, i was the slowest there, haha. The only car that was slower than me was the acura legend. But the most important of all, I HAD FUN....

Yup. That's about par for the course. Now just resist the urge to dump alot of money into the car.
