Diy: Sticky For Window Motor Repairs/door Panel Removal
#49
My driver-side window started slowing down a few months ago, and ocasionally has stopped responding altogether. Smacking the middle of the door panel would usually help. But the past few weeks, it's been so bad that I would have to manually pull up on the window while using the switch. Sometimes that wouldn't even work. It would even roll down halfway when I'd lock my car. Irritating to say the least. I read your DIY last week and figured I'd give it a try. Considering how bad my window was, I figured I'd definitely need a new motor, not just a cleaning. Well, I am happy to report that I just followed your DIY and it fixed the problem!! Rolls up and down nicely and smoothly now. Thanks!!!! It's much appreciated!!!

Almost went and spent some money for a new motor, but thought I'd do a little research first. Glad I found this thread. Just cleaned up the motor on my passenger side window because I was having issues (I used a scotchbrite pad to clean the contacts and it looks new again). Went ahead and did the reset process as well. Works flawlessly now.
Thanks so much for the write up and I noticed you're local, so next time I see you I'll have to shake your hand and give props!
