|
Will I be able to get this out with a heat gun and compressed air?
Had an accident and now the bumper is in bad shape. A few pics.
  I was doing some research over the internet. It seems like the dry ice method and the thing with the heat gun and compressed air have only been utilized on smaller dents. Wondering if anyone has experience with something this big.

I don't think the bumper is cracked at all. So are you saying that when I take off the bumper, I should apply the heat from the inside as oppose to the exterior? Also, will it be difficult to remove the bumper?

Heat gun, cold water, hours of heating and cooling and lots of polyester putty. Just get a new one lol.

it was my understanding that those methods were for metal panels and not plastic bumpers. Not sure how dry ice would do anything to that

It's plastic. Try to pop it out and see what happens. Not much to lose at this point.

It's really difficult to pop it out with the bumper in tact since it's so damn hard to stick the hand inside. I'm going to go on a mission and remove the bumper and see if I can do it that way. Hopefully removing the bumper is quick and painless. The paint doesn't look that bad. Plus my license plate covers that area.

You can definitely get that to look better but obviously not flawless. Good luck and please post "after" pics.

I don't know if the paint can handle being popped back like that though.

theres a DIY on bumper removal, it legit takes about 15-20 minutes its cake
