Lower Control Arm Removal Problem [PIC]

I am in the process of removing my whole front suspension and i am getting stuck on the the different ball joints.

I have removed the cotter pin out of the bolt but i cannot unscrew it. When i turn the nut, it just spins the bolt and all.

I am just trying to remove the knuckle / spindle from the lower control arm.

maybe you should hold it from the other side and give the nut a blast with an impact wrench.

I had to apply costrant downward pressure on that joint by pushing on the control arm when I replaced mine.

Use a vise grip to keep the ball joint from spinning.

Reinstall the strut, and use a floor jack to lift the LCA (directly under the ball joint) as far as it can extent up. You should be able to unscrew the nut when it's jacked up.

Don't forget penetration fluid.

So did you get it off? Pickle fork won't help you until you get the nut off...another trick if you don't have a pickle fork is to rap the arm on the outside with a hammer, it'll loosen the tapered shaft of the control arm from the spindle.

I was working on the same problem for about 4 hours one day. I put a floor jack under the ball joint and tightened the bolt in 3 minutes.

You will have to use the same method to loosen the nuts as you will to tighten.
