Upper Strut mount

Upper Strut mount
As we all know the suspension on the G35 is horrible. Bushings fail and cause the headache of hearing that awful noise. Whether it be a clunk, click, tap, or pop it usually all comes back to a failed bushing or suspension part. Sometimes we replace bushings only to find out that was not causing the suspension noise so we end up replacing almost every bushing including lower control arm balljoints, endlinks, etc etc. What I do not hear often is the replacement of the upper strut mount, could the upper strut mount wear out causing suspension noise?
If these things do wear out is it possible that the strut itself becomes loose from the bolts?
The reason I ask this are the many cases where people hear clunks or pops that come from loose strut nuts from the top that is located in the engine bay.
Now this would only pertain to people that do not have OEM upper strut mounts. Most aftermarket coilovers have built in pillow top mounts.
But some aftermarket coils do reuse the OEM upper mounts such as TEIN street basis or basic. SEE PIC
What are your thoughts?

KYB makes one for our Cars. I'd imagine its better than the stock one, but have no experience with it.
Edit: just for seachings sake, I'll point out that we have 4 shocks. I know most people list our suspension as having rear shocks and front struts, but that is in fact incorrect, so to make searching easier, searching for shock mounts turns better results.
