Question Selling a 6MT with dreaded dash crack

Hey all.

New guy here with a question about pricing a car with a dash crack. Haven't had an opportunity to show it to anyone yet but received a couple cold calls (probably dealers) trying to beat me up on price.

This is the vehicle link:
http://tampa.craigslist.org/hil/cto/4236853843.html

Problem is that there is a crack that just started across the passenger side of the dashboard. Runs diagonally across from one side to another. I researched and found this is somewhat common among 2006 G35's.

Seems KBB and Edmunds have this car priced out around $14,400 with 62800 miles and the options it has. Seems low to me really.

What do you guys think on price adjustment, or is the KBB/Edmunds figure already including faults with the dash? Anyone recommend a dash cover?

A new OEM dash, installed, is $1,650. Not a viable option...

Thanks for any input

Very difficult to replace, not fixable. Dash covers just look cheap and is a waste of money because you have to disclose the crack anyways.

Just list it as is and wait for the right buyer willing to buy. Your low milage will definatly over shadow the dash crack.

I showed the dash to a Tampa custom auto upholstery shop asking if they cound re-cover it. They said that the windshield would have to be removed and that nothing sticks to that type of dashboard material.

So either its just difficult to do and they lied or were all screwed.

I can't find anybody out there that has re-covered one of these dashes.

I went ahead and ordered a suede custom fitted dash mat because, hell, if it looks half way descent at least the crack wont continually be staring someone in the face...it was $61 shipped with 3 day UPS so if it means I could sell the car at a price that covers that then I'm at least even.

My concern is that more and more cracks will appear anyway.

My 06 coupe had a hairline crack even though I always parked it under shade or in my garage. I sold it a few months ago for $100 less than the KBB value for excellent.

I would let the new owner handle it however they see fit, so I would recommend to save your $61.

There are a lot of victims. I don't have have a percentage of affected vehicles but I'd wager that it's currently higher than 10%.

Armor all actually removes moisture and is more prone to crack.

No, Armor All has dimethyl silicone oils and actually strips the moisture from your dash/tires and causes it to dry-rot. Using it will damage your interior.
