About to buy a G35...help me with questions

I used to own a black on black 6mt 2006 coupe, believe it had all options. Before I drive across the country to find another nice car...What are the differences between the 2004' 05's and 06's? I know the 04' interiors all have grey carpet which I hate...but more importantly, why do I want an 06' and not an 04'? or are they the same motor/brakes/suspension etc. What should I be looking for...help me out here. I've been out of the G game for quite a while and I want back in lol

You should know then. Look at the 'why I hate my g35 thread'

A few 6mts have oil burning issues. You are going to want to find one that had the engine long block replaced.

Why weren't you here a long time ago with your OB '06 MT coupe? "Welcome to Driver!" Our '04 G35s have dark charcoal carpets, if you were lucky that was the color of your interior too! The '06 had many upgrades from the interior to headlights. The negative issues are with OC caused by cheap piston rings probably Chinese! Search for a '06 coupe with MT and very low mileage and a replacement engine in your favorite color. We've seen a few recently with less than 30K miles and what you should be looking for...Gary

06 pros:
Better Headlights
More HP
Updated interior
19" Rays

Con's:
Very likely to have oil consumption problems
Less torque
Ugly spoiler

04 pros:
Brembo option
More torque (torque is what counts)
Cooler spoiler

Cons:
Cast wheels
Less HP (no noticeable difference)
Circle reverse lights (neither here nor there for most folks)

I like the 04 tails better but the 06 reverse lights better. Unfortunately you cants have both.

So basically it doesn't matter though because all of this stuff in interchangeable between years anyways. If I want brembos I get them, if I want sport skirts and bumper I get them. If I want black carpet I buy black carpet and put them in. Basically all I
Should care about is which engine I want, and the rest is easy come. Naturally I wouldn't be keeping stock wheels lol. Sounds to me like I want an 04 with a bunch of 06 crap on it

Well if you got a 06/07 5at you'd have the same non revup motor as the 04 PLUS the goodies
That's always an option

Go drive it and get it shop checked. That sounds like a great value.

I didn't drive it yet just ride along. Very beat IMO all suspension components clanging and banging and the left rear brake made a very loud drone when brake was applied. Has 20" Volks all curbed to hell. Engine looked like somebody put wax on it and never wiped it off. Turbo piping mounts were not bolted to the engine. Just scary stuff I didn't like. He was asking 18,500 I've got him down to 13 without wheels but I'm reluctant
