Buy or wait?

I've been looking on kijiji for a while now for the g35 as this car is my true goal and i honestly cant wait as i want this car like NOW. However, with the cash i have and the job i work so far, i can only afford this car in like 3000$-8000$ range. Im 19 years old btw. But yeah, im looking to get this car and then modifying it and keeping it for a few years at least. maybe like 3-4 years until i finish up university and then getting a better job and buy a new car instead. Does this car look like its worth my time to check out at the dealer? it looks really nicely maintained from photos, despite no photos of the internal aspects of the car.

what do you guys think? If i considered purchasing this car, what should i be expecting? look out for?

I wouldn't buy that car. With your price range you should be looking at other more affordable options

Young man, you need to sit down with someone who understands money, how to save it and when to spend it. Simply put, dept is bad, clear title is good. Mortgage aside. No, do not buy that car. Living at home? A now where job? Education? Cars are a dime a dozen, even Gs. They can be like a boat, a bottomless piggy bank. A rapidly depreciating asset. Buy a vehicle that you can afford, paid in full. One you can afford to insure at your age. If you chase everything you want like NOW I suggest you will constantly be in dept. Lots of dept. High % credit card dept. The above response is correct. You need to educate yourself financially. good luck on your car search.

Interesting explanation... But yes OP G's are nice as they are semi luxury but you would be better off enjoying the college experience with $5000 spent on school and fun with 3 spent on a car .

We were all 19 once....

You guys remember that fire in the belly when you want something at that age.

Keep looking, there are plenty of them out there and you WILL run across one at a price you can afford. DON'T buy one from someone that's under 30 years old, they have beat the crap out of it. Find an older person that cares for a car. Just wait, I know it's eating at you, but keep looking.

Yup. When i was 19, i wanted what i wanted and was willing to sacrifice to get it.

Looking back, i was stupid...but those life lessons made me who I am.

If you handed 19 year old me $5K, i would have blew that on car parts, paintball guns, and Ps4 games,

Hand me $5K now at age 33, and some goes in the bank, some into my retirement, and some into stocks and maybe I spend $300-500 on something nice for myself.

I don't understand OPs post fully.
You really want this car because its your "true goal" and you want it NOW, but you only want it for a few years? You have just summed up everything that is wrong with america. You are for whom the impulse aisle was made. Want what you want, want it now regardless of cost/sense, and throw it away as soon as you realize you never needed it in the first place. Unknowing of a dollars value.

Ive said it a before and I'll reiterate for your sake: don't ever buy an old luxury car unless its something you plan on keeping and for which you'll be an enthusiast. It makes zero economic sense. The parts and services cost more than the worth of the car.

I was the same at his age. I went through a lot of cars when I was young. I have had the G for ten years this month.

8 years here for me.

I've owned my Mustang 17 years.... Actually. That was my "I'm 16 and want to buy what I want car" like the OP is getting at. Only difference is 17 years later...i still have it.
