2006 Light housing for 2005 and earlier models

Folks this is for us Canadian people would want the 06 light housing on our car. Since there are funtions that are differ from the states example our daylight running lights etc. Now this mod is possible because one of the member here walked me through this. His name is Larry aka ZX10r_646, he was so kind enough to do this I thought I put a DIY in the canadian section. So can Colin or someone sticky this here since it only relates to us canadian folks.

Things you will need:

4 x 5pin relay kit (got these at an audio shop)

Crimps about 20 14-16 gauge ones and 10-12 gauge ones (Home depot or Crappy tire)

5 feet 14 cable of 5 different color (home depot only carry 14 gauge so that is what i used)

Parking light:

Now we will work on the parking light mod. This will make the new city light (06 light housing) to act like our strip light.

Step 1.)

Open the cover to the HID Projector and the H1 and 168 City light cover

Step 2.)

Cut the black wire that is connect to the 168 wedge/city lights

Step 3.)

Cut a new piece of wire you bought about 12 to 14 inch and run the wire within the light housing from the Projector to the fog light area. Hint if you look inside the housing you will see a silver cable that does that just run it along with that.

Step 4.)

Crimp one end of the black wire to the 168 wedge bulb, so it should not look like this.

Step 5.)

Now go to the projector housing you should see a single green wire that is connected to the silver bulb connector split it

This green wire cut in half

Step 6.)

Now strip the 2 end of the green wire and twist them together. Then crimp them to the other end of the black wire. Making a T connection.

Now you are done with the Parking light Mod. I will keep adding to this DIY as Larry is going to walk me through this one at a time. Again thanks Larry if you see this post could not have done it with out you. For those in the GTa area that wants the 2006 light housing but are afraid to do this mod let me know I will help you.

Thanks to God|ZIlla168 and Larry for all their help. I fixed my parking and signal light problem as well.

Although for those who might not have the "green" wire inside the HID housing for their 2006 projector headlights like me. What you can do after you cut the black wire that's connected to the parking light to the silver mesh thing (that wraps around a yellow wire) by sauldering (the black wire you cut onto the silver mesh). It does the job as well.

How long?

Eric,

How long would you say this whole process takes? I'm looking to pick up a set of '06 housings as well. I'd really like to have your help, instead of trying this on my own.

Thanks,
Al

Honestly if you know your electric diagram you should be fine. Also the mods that I did myself I say it took about 15 mins once I knew how but the rest I did not and had no time due to my busy schedule so I had Larry do the rest.

What if I don't do this?

So what exactly do we lose by NOT doing this? (and simply installing a set of '06 projectors as-is) Do I lose any functionality?

your lights will not function properly, think if you signal it makes the fog lights blink instead no day lights running of course and a few others.
