for all you carputer and electronics experts?

Hey everyone,

I have an old laptop that would take more money to fix than it would be worth so it has just been sitting here, but i was thinking of an idea. I was thinking of taking the lcd screen from the laptop and fabricating something for my trunk lid in my G. Although i am not an expert at stuff like this i want to learn. I want to learn everything i can. So my questions are:

1. First of all, what does it take to wire the laptop lcd to my DD tv up front? Any and all information about anything at all that you know whether directly related or not will help.

2. Are there any experts out there that wouldn't mind corresponding with me from time to time in order for me to learn what i can from you and ask questions along the way of any electronics endeavors i undertake?

Thank you very much for all ofyour time.

-Cameron

Ok, I am assuming your DD TV does not have a VGA input, only RCA. If this is the case, I'm also assuming your laptop does not have an RCA output. If this is also true, you have (at least) two choices. The first choice is to get a PCMCIA or USB adapter that adds a RCA video output to your laptop.

Your second choice is to get a standalone scan converter which adapts a VGA input (connected to the monitor out of your laptop) to an RCA signal.

Both choices will allow you to connect your PC to the TV. Your picture quality will be less than perfect, however. I would not do either of these.

I'm no "expert", but I know a good deal about computers, computers in a mobile environment, and a bit-higher-than-average knowledge of car electrical systems. Fee free to PM me, even though you ditched me at the beach
