Plus,as I've suggested a hard sanding surface only hits the high spots (drips of paint!) Bug and tar remover will not touch this s##t(EPOXY right?)
I've had petroleum distillates dislodge some paint splatter from road paint before from freshly painted lines, so I figured it may work in this case. Won't hurt to try it first as its relatively safe on the paint

took it to the body shop.. they said epoxy is like cement attached for life..

basically it would have to be sanded off and repainted.. arghh so thats like $1,200 can you BELIEVE that..

anyways sooooooooooo I took it to a dent shop (long strech I know) the owner is willing to try a few tricks on the car for $125 and if it doesnt fix like new no cost! so I am leaning towards it and he will let me stay and watch my baby while he does the work.. I dont leave my G anywhere..

right now my DH is at the paint store that also sells epoxy and they think they might have something too.. so cross your fingers..

basically its epoxy and not paint.. that stuff is stuck bad.. and if I get it off I figure the paint will come with it too?? arghhhhhh

Hope this helps!! PM me if you have questions

Use common sense....if your nail won't take it off....its probably adhered to your clear coat...

I WOULD NOT USE THINNER.....it can and will eat into the finish.

Try using WD40, or turpentine first....it that will not loosen it...you may have to use a light polishing compound.

I ran over a freshly painted lane marker on an off ramp....it spattered yellow/white paint all over the lower sides of my car.

I didn't have the chance to remove it immediately, and it cured on the paint.

it took me over two hours to clean each quarter panel, using turpentine and WD 40, and then followed up with polishing compound and finally another layer of wax to protect it again.

Sorry to hear it happened. If you don't feel confident in removing it yourself, take it to a pro......they will be able to get your finish looking brand new..

I could try that.. but again I am worried I might mess it up more..

It's not so much the cost of repainting the car.. because Infiniti will already cover repainting the entire front end for an unrelated issue.

I just know the car is NEVER the same after a body shop.. and I have had bad experiences with body shops.. and I just dont trust them at all and my cars have came out worse than before.. and they give that life time guarantee crap but you keep taking it in and it comes back worse and the cycle could go on and over forever.. so thats why I said f* it and bought my new G because of body shop issues from my last car..

find a detail shop or body shop that is familiar with wetsanding (unless you have wetsanded before, you will most likely do permanent damage). they will get the paint back to original finish.

the first bodyshop you went to is giving you a crock of s***. a decent body shop can wetsand and buff out the epoxy in a few hours.

I would suggest going to Autopia.org and posting your issue there. There are detailers that are constantly on that site that will be able to advise you. If you are lucky, one of those detailers lives near you. Give it a try. You have nothing to lose. Go to http://autopia.org/forum/car-detaili...p-problem.html. I created a thread asking for help on your issue

Send a message via AIM to GreenGoblin
use a high speed buffer with some 3m rubbing compound and a wool pad then go over it with a glaze and a foam pad and you will be good to go

You are welcome. I hope it works out!

Edit: You should go back to the post and let them know what area you live in. Every detailer is not the same. Many of the detailers on Autopia are excellent. If you can get one of those experienced detailers to help, you will be in good shape. Sorry about the gender mistake.

I went to the dent shop place today. The guy got it off perfectly!! He did amazing work.. however, in the process somehow the paint got chipped? maybe from experiementing.. but its white underneath and not black like when I have gotten rock chips.. its on the lower part of the bumper where the body kit is..

He did some touch up but you can still see it.. He said he would work more on it Monday for free but I was thinking of buying the dealer touch up and having him use that.. I am not too upset because he really did get it all out and that was better than repainting the car and its not worse than before......

Dont worry about the gender thing.. I am sure it is a majority of guys on this board but it felt weird to be called a guy so I wanted to clear it up

Glad it worked out! I do recommend checking out the site I linked to. Using some of the techniques explained there really can make your new G look good and keep it that way.
