Sandpaper for head lights?

I was using the touch up paint and got a little of it on my headlight, I can't get it off so I was thinking I would use 2000 grit sandpaper. Will that scratch the head lights, or am I ok to use that?

do not use sand paper for this. all you need is some polish or compound

the headlight are plastic so sand and plastic don't mix well together.

If you haven't already, try claying the excess touch up paint first. If that doesn't work, I usually will try to use an adhesive remover, 3M makes a great one and can be found locally.

If you wanted to refinish your headlights, you may want to wet sand them and polish after to help restore them if they are scratched, hazy or foggy.

Here's a good walk through on restoring your headlights if you go this route.

Let us know how things turn out.

I agree with DI!!!

clay first, if that doesnt work, try de-natured alcohol, if that doesnt work, then might as well perfect them via wetsanding, compounding, polishing (any/or all). Dont forget to seal them up with a wax with zero yellow content!
