Audi S4/RS4 Widebody - Prep - Paint Correction

Much like the other one we did early this year.....

This car belongs to another customer that has always brought his cars to the next level, this is a 2002 Audi S4 Avant that was converted to an RS4 using all factory parts coming from Germany. Not sure if he has changed his mod list yet but I believe by the time this is done it will be 600-700 crank hp!

After the body panels were installed it went in for paint....below is what we needed to do

We wrapped:

1. Side skirts
2. Top of rear bumper
3. Full Front bumper
4. Gas Cap
5. Door Handles

The total time this took was 50 hours with the 3 of us, Dan, Tom, and I. Long days and nights to prep this one for H20.

What was done -
Exterior

- Wheels were prepped and cleaned
- Tires were spritzed down with P21S Total Autowash and washed down
- Wheel wells were spritzed down with P21S Total Autowash
- Wash down and rinsed
- Door jambs were cleaned up
- Clayed
- Dried
- Paint inspected and measured
- Wheel Wells were cleaned and dressed
- Tires dressed
- Masking
- 3 Step Paint correction (Meguiars M105, Menzerna Super Intensive Polish, Menzerna PO85RD)
- Inspection with Fenix, 3m Sun Gun, Infratech, and natural sunlight
- Applied and Removed Wax
- Rubber and Plastics Treated
- Exterior windows and mirrors cleaned and sealed
- Exhaust tips cleaned
- Engine detailed

Interior -
- seats were removed

Exterior - not much to show it was brought right over after it was in the body shop...
Before

Before shots of the engine

Engine Clean Up

After shots of the engine

Sonax Full Effect Wheel Cleaner

Car Wash - Foaming it down - Rinse - Clay

Paint Measured - Trim masked

Car needed to be finished down - we went with M105, SIP, PO85RD - this was a pretty hard color to show paint defects...

50/50 shots you can tell the paint cleaned up extremely well - again a hard color to show

After

Side skirts were polished out

Shots outside after compounding and polishing and rinse

PPF (Clear Film Installation)

Lights removed for a cleaner install

Yes, you can use soapy water as a clay lube, but you should always completely wash the paint before you clay...or else your clay bar will just grind all the loose dust/dirt/contaminates into your paint, causing more swirls and scratches.

what I have found with car soap is it will eat thru the clay bar. so I prefer a clay lube.
