I use a rotary buffer at work for this.
Some guys use DA or Random Orbital.
M205 if they are very light. Use a white pad. You could also try D151 with the lightest pad necessary. It's got a light cut, glaze, and a light wax all in one paste.

False.
A skilled detailer can easily finish damage free with a rotary. Chemical/pad/RPM choice is crucial. Least aggressive materials necessary. Soft paint should not scare you if your techniques are adaptable.

For the average member here on Driver all you need is Meguiar's or 3M Scratch remover used with an applicator pad followed by a good coat of wax to remove scratches and finish! I use my rotary buffer with 3M scratch remover and cleaning pad to remove major scratches, but that's not for everyone.
