anywhere besides Autozone do free OBD-II code checks?

The check engine light came on in my Explorer, so naturally I ran up to Autozone to have them check it. The moron told me he couldn't do it if it was wet outside...the "machine" can't get wet. Obviously he thought the inside of my truck was wet as well. idiot. So then I called another Autozone and that moron told me that they can't check it after dark. I'd have to come tomorrow morning.

So this brings me to the question...is there anywhere else that will check codes for free? If not, I guess I'll just have them check it and then buy whatever parts somewhere else.

one of these days maybe I'll just bite the bullet and buy an OBD-II reader.

I was told Autozone no longer offer free check up, you will need to rent the machine and check it yourself, anyone know who else can pull the codes for free ?

Autozone definitely still does free code checks. Luckily the NW McKinney store was their saving grace. I recently moved up by there and those guys are great. Not only do they speak English, they're amazingly knowledgeable AND helpful.
