Drag results, 6-speed G35 Coupe

So, I ran my 2003 6-speed G35 Coupe at the track on Saturday…
The results weren’t too impressive. My best runs that night were 14.6xx’s at between 95 – 98 mph and for the most part my 60 ft. times weren’t that bad…I pulled a 2.1 60 ft. twice and a 2.2 (there was also a really bad run with a 2.4). Kind of disappointed considering my car is modified (HKS exhaust, Injen intake, PowerLab plenum spacer, test pipes, and Osiris base re-flash) and my 60 ft. times weren’t too bad. I did lose traction between shifts from 1st to 2nd and 2nd to 3rd but I’m wondering how much of an effect that would really have on my 1/4 mile times.

I’ll be getting my full Osiris dyno tune done later this month and I’ll be headed back out in June probably.

Also, I was out there with 2 other G35’s and my brother’s 350Z (PowerLab turbo kit at 4 psi, ran a best of 12.8 at 115 mph with a 2.1 60 ft.) and one of the other G35’s was an auto with a Vortech supercharger and his best was 13.9 at 101 mph with a 2.1 60 ft.

Now to the pictures…

Density Altitude was about 2882ft. Your times are a little on the slow side considering your mods. Corrected times are in 14.10 range at traps of 100-101. You should be at 14.1-14.2 range in that DA(not corrected). Maybe that injen intake is sucking all the HOT air from the track asphalt, or like u said maybe that tire spin is causing you that time. IMO it is combination of both but i bet intake has a lot to do with it.

How did you calculate the density altitude? The elevation at Firebird is 1,243 ft. above sea level. Yeah, something doesn’t seem right with my car (trap and time), I’ll be headed to the dyno in a week or two; so, I should have a better idea of just how much power my G is putting down plus there should be some improvement after a full tune.

About the intake, what would you advise? Convert to short ram and maybe add a BPI velocity stack and 6” filter?

Check out this thread for DA calculations.
Top 25 1/4 Mile Times For ( TT, ST, SuperCharger, Nitrous, Bolt-ons, Stock )

As far as the intake it has been proven over the years that on 03-06 G35s the stock intake works the best under all weather conditions and speeds. If u want improvement over stock 03-04 intake, get the 05+ velocity stack for your stock intake.

I actually have no clue, I’ve tried to listen for knock but at WOT I can’t hear anything except for the exhaust. I’m sure it’s likely I was though; I’ll go back for a full dyno tune on the 16th of this month and hopefully that should address the issue. Then it’s off to Speed World in June.
