Rear Diff fluid question ....
Hi, Just got back from the Stealership where I bought 3 qts. Infiniti MT lube. Was going to buy the Diff lube ,too but when guy brought it out it was Pennzoil Brand. I bought the 6 MT fluid from Infiniti to keep my 06 Coupe in warranty. After learning the MT Fluid was 16 bucks a quart I figured if they only had Pennzoil for rear end why pay their price?
My question is , what lube is right for my rear diff? Also, 16 bucks a qt. for the Tranny? Yikes! Thanks in advance for any replies! |

Thats expensive for the tranny fuild for a 6MT. Thats more than the AT fluid. Go to the NISSAN dealership or buy it online next time.
I have used the Royal Purple gear fluid 80W-90. You can use that or Mobile 1, AMSoil, etc... just use a good quality gear oil. 75W-90 or 80W-90. I would stick with a synthetic.

I recently put BG Synchroshift 75w-90 in the Transmission and BG UltraGuard 75w-140 in the differential. Both are synthetic fluids and I don't think I'll ever use anything else.

I spoke with several Nissan and Infiniti master technicians (different dealerships and one of them is a personal friend) and they all recommended the 75-140. They said that particular weight adds more protection to the differential at warmer temperatures.
I did a review that I keep updating regularly: REVIEW: BG Ultra-Guard and BG Synchro Shift II |

I just had my fluids replaced for the winter, and I had Royal Purp replaced in the rear dif My mechanic comes out and says "Make sure you tell anyone checking fluid levels that you have some purple lube in there, that way they dont think it has gone bad or burnt. The stuff we use is honey colored, interesting that its dark like that." I just chuckled , gotta love the old timers.
btw I am using 75w-90
