Spongy Clutch

Hey all,

I took the G out from the garage last weekend and got her washed. I have an 07 6mt G35 coupe with 63k miles. On Tuesday, I drove it to work and immediately felt something wrong with the clutch. If the clutch pedal moves a total of 8 inches from out to in, when I step on the pedal the first 2 inches are spongy soft with no resistance. The clutch then disengages completely in no more than 1 inch of travel, and the remaining 5 inches are worthless, medium soft resistance. When I let the pedal out, this happens in reverse order. This is not normal behavior.

I have had the "clutch sticking to floor" problem before at 30k miles, which I solved by having a dealer completely flush and change out the clutch fluid. Since the last time, I have removed the clutch pedal spring.

Yesterday I decided I would try to exchange the fluid, thinking that the car wash had allowed enough water to get in and ruin the fluid. While I was under there I wanted to install a steel clutch line. The installation allowed all the fluid to drain out, so I refilled and bled the system for a long time. I think i've done a good job bleeding the system, but its so hard to tell if more air bubbles are coming out...

Its now behaving exactly the same as it was on Tuesday.

Does anyone have any suggestions on what to do next?

Thanks for the suggestion. Its definitely not functioning normally. The clutch is literally on or off. Its either a problem in the transmission, or in the hydraulics.

I just changed all the clutch fluid when I installed the stainless steel line. I bet I didn't do a good enough job bleeding the system.
