CAUTION: THE USE OF ANY OTHER CLEANING SOLUTION OR METHOD COULD DAMAGE THE FILTER!

of course they want you to use their stuff

the notice is there so people wont just use anything to clean the filter. I think they are trying to say dont use windex, wood polish, etc

I think I might use some simple green to get the dirt out and then clean the filter with the K&N cleaner

I have tried that method and did not like it

Did not quite work for me

I use hot water and oxy clean. Works like a magic.

As a matter of fact I just cleaned it today so I'll post some pictures once it dries out.

whiter part is where I have not sprayed oil yet.

That's how clean it is after washing it in hot water and oxy clean.

1. I spray the filter with cleaner (it comes in the kit, might as well use it). Let it sit for a little

2. Rinse it off with water to remove loose dirt and stuff.

3. heat up some water and pure it in the bucket with 2 scoups of oxy clean in there.

4. Submerge the filter in there and let it sit for 20 min or so.

Once all the oil is washed out of the filter it floats on top of the water so I just take few napkins and collect it so it does not get on the filter when I'll be pulling it out of the water. Water is nice and cooled off by now.

Then rinse the filter once again and dry it.
