check engine light emissions

check engine light emissions
So I had stillen test pipes on my 03 coupe 6 speed. Obviously my Check engine light was on, which was no surprise. I put my O2 sensors on the test pipes. Emissions time came so I put my catalytic converters on. Took off the O2 sensors off the test pipes and put them on my catalytic converters. The check engine light was on still once I installed the catalytic converters, which didn’t surprise me again. Drove 70 some odd miles waiting for the drive cycle to reset the ECU. I then searched the forum for an ECU reset (link: https://g35driver.com/forums/engine-...-resetting.htm) The check engine light turned off, then about 15-20 miles (just a guess forgot to look at the exact mileage) the light came back on. I’m lost on what to do. Could it be that the O2 sensors are just too freaking dirty? Could it be that I need to just go on a road trip? I don’t know what to do so I need some help any ideas?

What is the error code?
Also, note that if you are getting your car inspected, you will not pass if you recently reset your ECU. If you don't drive through all the necessary driving patterns, the various emissions systems will read as NOT READY and you will fail your test because of this. I think there are total of (3) emission systems, and you are typically allowed to have only (1) NOT READY.
But, i think the first step you need to determine is what error code the ECU is spitting out.

o2 sensor... bank 1 sensor 2 heater element...
I had the same thing (same sensor location too) shortly after having headers installed (coincidence or cause I dont know)...
at first I kept clearing the code - then had Shawn Church disable the code from returning (worked for a while, then returned)... then took to TechnoSquare and Howard messed around with the sensor and played with Nissan Consult for a long time and now the code never appears - so I don't know if the sensor is working or code disabled.
Anyway, OP - replace sensor is the easy route.

You could have fouled the sensor by running them on the TPs. One cheap way to check is to clean the sensor by spraying brake clean on it and try it. Or you can swap sensors and see if the code moves to the other side.

Another shot in the dark is to carefully clean the MAF sensor
